Whey protein is a great choice for supporting muscle health when taken after training, naturally containing high levels of the amino acids necessary for repairing muscle fibres whilst having the lactose and fats normally present in milk almost completely removed.
 
'Whey protein' exists on a spectrum of low to high protein content depending on the degree and complexity of filtration employed in its production. Any protein which has been through filtration is referred to as whey protein 'concentrate', as the protein has been concentrated from the source milk. Some of these concentrates can have quite low protein and high lactose however, and can lead to gut upset. Whey protein concentrate with a relatively high concentration approaching 80% - 90% is usually much easier on the gut, and is often referred to as whey protein 'isolate', as the protein has almost been completely isolated from the milk fats and lactose. Our whey protein is both an isolate and a concentrate, and as a high grade product is much less likely to cause gut upset compared with other similarly priced protein powders on the market.
 
Some people have sensitivities to whey protein which stem from specific gut reactions to the protein itself, not lactose (lactorphins and casomorphins specifically).
